2012 Scott Genius 40 Trail Mountain Bike

Price and Wheel Size

The 2012 Genius 40, manufactured by Scott, is a full suspension mountain bike intended for intermediate riders. Its retail price is $3,299, which is $1,249 more expensive than the average mountain bike. It has 26 inch wheels, the standard for many mountain bikes. This wheel size is more manuverable around turns and objects than larger wheels. However, a larger set of wheels has less rolling resistance and may be easier to take over roots, rocks, and other obstacles. Frame Material and Weight The 2012 Scott Genius 40 is sold in the following frame sizes: SM (15"-17"), MD (17"-19"), LG (19"-21"), and XL (21"-23"). The reported bike's weight with all components is 27.53 pounds, though this weight is dependent on the size of the bike, as well as the components used to build it. Many manufacturers don't report their bikes' weights at all, since they can vary greatly. Much of a bike's weight is determine by its frame. The 2012 Genius 40 has an aluminum frame, which tends to be fairly light but stiff (little natural shock absorption).
